Following an engineering and business education and career in technical sales and marketing, Tim co-founded WaveFront Sciences to bring the Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensor to the scientific/industrial market for the purpose of making measurements using light. This device combined a number of maturing technologies to measure light or to measure other things using the properties of light. Ultimately, this device was most successful in the application of measuring human eyes to enable a more accurate LASIK procedure. Today, this technology is the gold standard for LASIK procedures around the world and commonly results in near perfect vision for the patient.
The experience of growing WaveFront Sciences from “two guys in a garage”, to venture capital funding, to acquisition by a public company, provided Tim with a vast range of experiences in the business world. Developing technology, managing people and surviving difficult economic times all provided valuable learning experiences. He shares this experience with his NMCBL members in his newest calling as an advisory board chair in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
